The online persona "Bundaskanzlerin" began as a performance and social experiment and serves as a critique of Germany's exclusionary political/art world and of AI-based censorship imposed on social media platforms.
Playing with the former role of Angela Merkel, @Bundeskanzlerin, on Instagram—making it seem like a mistake by writing it with an "A" instead of an "E"— a move that was so well calculated that it not only went viral while addressing heavily censored topics but also gained thousands of followers in just a few days, all from non-German speakers who mistyped Merkel’s username in the search. "Bunda" means "ass" in Brazilian Portuguese, a word that originally comes from Kimbundu.
By appropriating the influencer stereotype, Naya merges it with a politician purely for the gag effect, as a global south-born and immigrant trans woman leading a country remains unthinkable. Using found footage from journalism, social media, music, TV, cinema, and beyond to craft video collages, photographs, and memes, Naya has built not just a body of work but a virtual and visual language. Remixing fragments of words, #$%%$&% symbols, and emojis, she manipulated the algorithm successfully—until AI updates adapted and began learning from us.
Through @Bundaskanzlerin, Naya has become one of Berlin's most influential voices, sought after by art and cultural institutions nationwide to engage younger and marginalized audiences in Germany.

PRESS PLAY! Sampling the Mortal Kombat game track and using the voices of the rich xenophobic kids in Sylt, Naya turned something absolutely disturbing into power, the song also has become an immigrant anthem among LGBTIQ+ people in Germany.
