Whether in the ballroom or at carnivals, as the music plays, trans* bodies are celebrated. And when does the revelry end? Dominique Jackson, of series such as Pose and with her autobiography The Transsexual from Tobago (2014) together with Jaya Jacobo put words to what happens between the fervour of applause and the silence of exclusion. Cultural memory is selective: we remember the music, but not who sings, plays and dances it. In the face of erasure, there are people who not only remember it, but who are the living archive of what remains to be recovered.
